Social Sciences
The social science industry covers a wide array of subjects and specialisms, with opportunities across public sector, private sector and third party industries.
As a college, we offer a range of social science courses in SCQF Levels 6 and SCQF 7 to prepare you for employment or further study within this industry.
We have excellent links with local employers and related organisations, and we use these relationships to benefit our students by bringing in knowledgeable speakers from the industry. Our previous social science students have received sessions from Volunteering Scotland, the Police, SACRO, Victim Support, SWAP and in particular a wide range of universities. The majority of Social Science students progress to University to study and undertake Degree programmes of their choice.
As a college, we know that not all learning takes place within a classroom or college setting. We take our students out to various different organisations and settings, with previous students visiting the Sheriff Court to study Trial proceedings, Anne Frank exhibition, Travelling Gallery and Edinburgh University.
Many of our social science students also complete a placement to allow them to build the skills and experience needed to excel in their future career. Previous students have had the opportunity for work placements within Charity organisations, Historical organisations, Education, Marketing and Media.
