Lothian Lectures

Lothian Lectures is an open evening lecture series hosted at West Lothian College, designed to give staff, students, and the wider public the opportunity to explore thought-provoking topics with expert guest speakers.

What to Expect

Each lecture offers a unique perspective on current issues, encouraging discussion, debate, and reflection. Speakers are invited to share their insights freely, creating space for diverse voices and ideas.

Past Lectures

  • 5 March 2024: Veganism as Social Justice
    Delivered by Social Sciences Lecturer Lynda Korimboccus, this lecture explored veganism through the lens of ethics, equity, and sustainability.
  • 7 May 2024: Understanding the Cybercriminal Ecosystem
    Jordan Schroeder, Managing CISO at Barrier Networks, shared practical advice on how to protect yourself, your family, and your business from cyber threats.
  • 22 October 2024: Reclaiming Narratives – Black History Month
    This lecture celebrated the stories that shape the culture, contributions, and identities of African and Caribbean communities.
  • 9 October 2025: West Lothian Demands Better on Tackling Poverty
    This lecture explored the urgent need for action on issues such as housing, income, healthcare, education, and social support.

How & When

Lectures are held in person on campus, typically on Tuesday evenings to make the most of our open facilities. As the series grows, we plan to offer hybrid and recorded sessions.
