The Automotive industry is evolving, with advances in technology and the introduction of hybrid and electric vehicles changing the way automotive engineers and mechanics work with vehicles.
As a college, we offer a wide range of automotive courses from levels 4 to 7, all of which prepare you for employment within the industry. We also offer short courses tailored to learning about emerging technologies in electric and hybrid vehicles.
We have excellent links with local employers, large motor vehicle organisations, training organisations and fast fit organisations, and we use these relationships to benefit our students by bringing in knowledgeable speakers from the industry. Our previous engineering students have received sessions from Eastern Western Motor Group, First Bus and Arnold Clark. With opportunities for work placements with these large motor vehicle companies, along with over 30 local independent garages. Previous automotive students have also been given the opportunity to complete a two week work experience in Sweden, working for some huge brands including BMW, Mercedes, Toyota and Nissan
The programmes offer opportunities to work on a wide range of vehicles, develop skills in project work, building small electric power kit car, building large fully functional kit cars, running our stores and customer service department and building skills across a wide range of areas developing good communication and practical core skills in preparation for a rewarding career in the industry.
