Students from West Lothian College are taking their first steps into the world of Professional Cookery.
A group of cookery students at West Lothian College have embarked on 3 day long work placements this week. Students from Level 5 Professional Cookery have been given a fantastic opportunity to partake in work experience in some of Scotland’s finest restaurants.
Work placements give students the opportunity to gain skills specific to their subject or industry of choice as well as the employability skills required for the world of work. Placements also increase their knowledge of an industry or sector, allowing them to make better informed decisions about future career choices.
The students have been working in a number of prestigious restaurants including:
- Gleneagles Hotel
- Andrew Fairlies
- Trump Turnberry Hotel
- Ox and Finch
- Tantrum Doughnuts
- Amarone
- Cadiz
- Cafe Andaluz
- Balathie House Hotel
- Apex Hotel
- Six at Nico
- Heritage Portfolio
Margret Forisky, Head of Hospitality and Communities at West Lothian College said “We are delighted that we have been able to send our Level 5 students on such exciting placements. This experience will give them an excellent understanding of how a professional kitchen functions. We are very grateful to all the restaurants involved for providing our students with this opportunity.”
