SVQ in retail management SCQF level 6

The Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) Retail Management at SCQF level 6 allows candidates to demonstrate competence in job-related skills in their particular area of work and expertise.


These qualifications have been designed in partnership with industry and SQA to ensure relevance to the sector.
Upon successful completion, learners will gain an international recognised qualification which guarantees that they have the skills, knowledge and abilities required to carry out their role successfully.

    What the course includes

    SVQs in retail management are designed to for those working in large and small retail organisations.

     

    The units cover areas such as;

     

    • Stock management
    • Finance
    • Planning, and
    • organisation

Why study this course?

As assessment is normally carried out in the workplace this minimises any time learners would need to be away from their work and allows candidates to generate evidence based on the actual work they are carrying out.

You will be assigned a highly experienced assessor to work with you on an individual basis. This assessor will support you build a portfolio of evidence demonstrating your knowledge and competence in this sector.

Entry Requirements

Candidates must be in a work place where they are carrying out relevant tasks and responsibilities which allow then to gather the required evidence.

No prior qualifications are required to undertake this qualification, although a minimum of six months experience in this sector is required.

If English is not your first language, ESOL Level 5 is an entry requirement for this course.

    • Further professional and academic development; for example, a Higher National Diploma (HND) in retail management

    Employment

    • Promotion within the retail sector, perhaps as an assistant manager
