Event overview

DataKirk, in collaboration with the college, is hosting an open evening to launch its Board Shadow Initiative, designed to empower individuals from all backgrounds to explore board-level leadership and make their voices heard.

Event Details

Now entering its third year, the programme continues to grow in scale and impact, blending expert-led training with real-world placement opportunities. It’s built around two key components:

  • Board Training
  • Board Placement

"At West Lothian College, we are deeply committed to equality, diversity and inclusion not just as values but as vital strengths that shape how we lead. This Board Shadow Initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to building a board that represents and strengthens our wider community in line with our vision to lead with empathy and make a positive, lasting impact." - Sue Cook, Chair of West Lothian College

Attendees will hear directly from current Board members about what being part of a board involves, and can apply for a free 10-week training programme aimed at preparing participants for future board roles.

"The Talent On Board programme breaks barriers by design. Partnering with West Lothian College isn't just about sharing resources; it's about co-creating a new blueprint for inclusive leadership. When organisations actively work together – not just alongside each other – we dismantle systemic exclusion. Diverse boards make smarter decisions, foster innovation, and truly reflect Scotland’s communities. This collaboration proves that intentional partnership is the engine of real change." - Fash Fasoro, Founder & CEO of DataKirk
