West Lothian College students move on to university

Recent figures from the Scottish Widening Access Programme (SWAP) show that 97% of SWAP students at West Lothian College have moved on to university.
The Scottish Wider Access Programme supports access to higher education for adult learners. West Lothian College offers a range of SWAP courses and has helped many students further their education.
Lesley Dunbar, Director of SWAP East, said: “The overall retention percentage for West Lothian College students who were still at university at the end of first year was 97%. This is a fantastic percentage! And even higher than the average SWAP percentage for 2018 which was a really good 94% (the highest rate we’ve had since we started tracking in 2014).”
Some of the SWAP courses available at West Lothian College include Access to Social Science, Access to Biological Science, Access to Nursing and Access to Teaching.
Principal of West Lothian College Jackie Galbraith said: “I have to say well done to all colleagues who worked hard to prepare our 2018 SWAP students for higher education study. It’s fantastic to see that so many of our students are moving on to university and sticking with it.”
