West Lothian College have been shortlisted for an award at the Scottish Diversity Awards.
The college has made it into the finals under the Further Education College of the Year category for the second consecutive year.
The college caught the eye of the judging panel with their commitment to the provision of equal opportunities in all aspects of college life through implementation of a range of policies and initiatives that ensure that staff, learners and visitors are treated equally.
To showcase the diversity of the college and the commitment to providing equal opportunities to all, the college organised an equalities week which ran from 10- 14 December. The week involved a range of activities including equalities training for staff, a social media campaign to celebrate the diversity of the students, a treasure hunt organised by the Student Association and the college canteen providing meals from a different culture and country of origin each day.
For the duration of equalities week, the college building was lit up in the colours of the pride flag in what many described as a spectacular display.
Jenny Stalker from West Lothian College said: “West Lothian College are delighted to once again be shortlisted for the Scottish Diversity Awards. It is an honour to be recognised for our hard work ensuring that we as a college are inclusive and welcoming to all.”
The awards take place in Glasgow on the 28th of February.
