West Lothian College shortlisted for 3 National Awards

CDN Awards 20

West Lothian College has recently been nominated for 3 College Development Network Awards.

The prestigious awards are open to all of Scotland’s 26 colleges, and recognise and celebrate the achievements of colleges, their staff and students over the past 12 months.

Staff members Elaine Campbell and Marion Darling have been nominated in the College Colleague of the Year category, and the college’s marketing team has been shortlisted for its work in adapting to lockdown, including running the college’s first ever virtual open day that attracted around 200 potential applicants.

Elaine, an employer engagement officer at the college, is shortlisted for her work in ensuring that all students have the opportunity for a work placement to help them progress into employment. This includes using her industry connections to set up an employability hub for all students to access and gain advice. Marion, a Health and Social Care lecturer, was noted for her outstanding work in promoting and organising activities across the college in support of mental health and wellbeing of students, staff and the wider community.

Jackie Galbraith, Principal of West Lothian College, said:

“I am delighted that West Lothian College has been recognised by being shortlisted for 3 awards in the 2020 College Development Network Awards. These awards highlight success and innovation in colleges that benefit our students and stakeholders, and I am very proud that Elaine, Marion and our marketing team have reached the finals of these awards. I wish them the best of luck and look forward to attending the online event in December to celebrate their achievements.”

The awards will take place online on the 3rd December 2020.
