West Lothian College and Napier University will continue to provide the Business Management degree after it was announced last year the course was to be discontinued.
Over the past few weeks, both institutions have worked in partnership to identify positive alternative solutions and to explore the possibility of continuing the collaboration from September 2021 using a different delivery model that meets the needs of students.
The Level 9 business degree will be delivered at the West Lothian College campus by Napier University lectures. College lecturers will offer pastoral support throughout the academic year meaning local delivery of the degree will be supported by the lecturers who students have worked with since their first year of study at Level 7 (HNC).
Student voices were an important factor in the negotiations as they spoke out desiring clarification on maintaining local delivery of the degree. The revised arrangement will be in place for two years to enable the operation of the delivery and give time to review the new model for future years.
Principal of West Lothian College, Jackie Galbraith said: “I am very pleased with the agreement reached between Edinburgh Napier University and West Lothian College which means that our students can continue to study the business management degree from our campus in Livingston.
“This is a great example of effective collaboration between our college and the university to find the best possible outcome for students.”
