West Lothian College Hosts Apprenticeship Day

West Lothian College was delighted to host its very own Apprenticeship Open Day on its Livingston campus this month, as part of Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2023, putting a spotlight on the reasons why apprenticeships are #UnlockingPotential in our students.

The event welcomed employers from organisations such as IBM and Skills Development Scotland, enabling those in attendance to ask questions and learn more about the positive impact that apprenticeships have, highlighting career progression and business growth.

Talks were also delivered by representatives from two of our partner university’s- Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) and Heriot Watt University (HWU), who explained the three different types of apprenticeships – foundation, modern and graduate in more detail, whilst showcasing the courses that they offer potential students.

Attendees were also given a tour of the workshop facilities the college has on campus.

Louise MacDonald, Learning and Skills Manager for Workforce Development at West Lothian College, said: “It was lovely to see both employers and potential apprentices attend the event and find out how apprenticeships can make a positive impact on individual and businesses by unlocking potential and supporting Scotland’s Economy.”

Sandra Hubbard, the College’s Foundation Apprentice Recruitment Advisor, added: “It’s amazing to see our Foundation Apprentices encouraging others to undertake an apprenticeship, they know how beneficial their courses have been to them.”
