West Lothian College Events students shortlisted for top awards
A group of students from west Lothian College have been named as finalists in the 2019 Eventit E Awards not once but twice!
Students from HNC Events have been shortlisted for two events during 2018/19 in the Best Student led Event/Festival at the prestigious awards which celebrate excellence in the Scottish events industry.
As part of their course students are required to organise numerous events from start to finish varying in scale. This process helps to develop a wide range of skills and preparing students for work in the exciting and vibrant events industry.
A Christmas craft fair held in the college in December and a whisky tasting which took place in the Terrace restaurant in March made the shortlist and now the students must wait until Thursday June 13 where the winners will be announced at the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh
Hazel Brady Centre Head for Business and Creative at West Lothian College said “I am delighted that the HNC Events students have been nominated for these awards. They have worked tirelessly all year to ensure the events were a success and it is fantastic to see their efforts recognised. I wish them all the best for the finals in June.”
Stephen Frew the course tutor said “The students utilised all the skills they have learned on the course, from financial budgeting, planning and organisation through to event management implementation and produced two stunning events, here’s hoping they can go one step further.”
