Students Pick Up Awards at AHT Competition

West Lothian College hairdressing students picked up a number of awards earlier this month at the regional finals of the Association of Hairdressers and Therapists (AHT) competition.

The event in Edinburgh saw hairdressing and beauty students from across Scotland compete in different award categories.

West Lothian College students won prizes in various categories with Caitlin Douglas scooping first Place in the Ladies Commercial Blow Dry category. In the Ladies Evening Style Category, Magdalena Jarosz took a first-place position.

Emma Hutton and Rachel Enderby achieved second place in the Carnival Team Event,  with Emma also taking third place in the Bridal Event.

Finally, Vicky Ellis grabbed a hat-trick of third places for Bridal, Ladies Commercial Blow Dry, and Fashion Finish on a pre-cut and coloured mannequin.

These students will now prepare for the national heats in Blackpool.

Proud lecturer Paula Merrilees commented:

We are so proud of all our students for taking part as these events can be stressful and high-pressure environments but thats what makes you more resilient and adaptable in this industry. To have so many successes is just fabulous.  Bring on the fun at Blackpool! Well done to everyone!”

The national heats will take place in Blackpool on 23 May.
