Students create crosses for Remembrance Day

Handmade crosses have been created by students at West Lothian College ahead of this year’s Remembrance Day.

Made from repurposed timber , the crosses were created by students from the college’s Introduction to Construction course, using the skills they have learnt from the beginning of their studies.

The students were tasked with making a Remembrance Day cross as a mark of remembrance.

Lecturer Mark McWilliams said: “The crosses were made with repurposed timber from previous construction projects in the college, which the students primed and painted using the skills they have learnt and built on from the start of their course.

“Students were given this task as a mark of remembrance and they created a method statement and a cutting list for the project whilst incorporating sustainability. What they created was to an excellent standard and they should be very proud of their work.

“Additionally, my school pupils Construction class completed smaller crosses this week and they did a great job.”
