Staying at home
Following the Government announcement, as of 23/3/20, everyone must stay at home & only leave the house for one of four reasons:
- Shopping for basic necessities
- 1 form of exercise a day
- Any medical need, or to provide care
- Travelling to & from essential work
The college is currently closed and all face-to-face teaching is suspended.
Student bursary and childcare payments will not be affected.
Please be aware that online teaching is still taking place with the majority of classes and students are expected to engage with learning through Moodle and emails from your lecturer. Your lecturer should have assigned you work and any assignments. For any queries please contact email@example.com
We know you will be concerned about achieving your qualification and progression. Information on these and other important issues is provided below and will be updated on a regular basis.

Applications and support
Although our campus is closed we are available and continuing to operate online for most services such as applications, virtual learning, interviews for applicants, student support, student funds and any queries during this period. More information on these can be found below.

Higher and National exams
We are in communication with Colleges Scotland, SQA, Scottish Government and other bodies regarding Higher National Certification grades and Scottish National and Higher 2020 exams being cancelled. As this is a national decision, it is something we will update as and when we have more details. Any updates will be communicated on this page and our social media channels.

During the closure of the college we will continue to pay your bursary, childcare, EMA and discretionary funds. No action is required from you for this to take place.
If you are struggling financially during the college closure please email firstname.lastname@example.org in the first instance and we will try to provide appropriate support, for example foodbank vouchers.
Bus passes will not be renewed after the current cycle as students are not required to travel to the college.
Please note that the college student support team will not be available from 4pm on Friday 3rd April until 8:30am on Tuesday 14th April. Below you will find alternative support which is available throughout the spring break.
West Lothian College students going through a tough time can now access free online support with Big White Wall. You will have access to a 24/7 online global community and professional support from trained professionals.

West Lothian Carers remain open for telephone and email support for all new and existing carers, young carers and disabled adults looking for help during this period.

Interviews and scheduled entry assessments

All applications are still being reviewed by staff and we will contact you by email to update you on the status of your application. The normal timescales will not apply as it may take us longer to contact you than normal.
Those scheduled for interview
All planned interviews have been postponed and alternative arrangements for your interview, which may include a telephone interview, will be communicated to you by email once confirmed with the relevant member of staff.
Communication from the college
We will use your student email address for any formal college correspondence, as well as our website and social media channels.
You can access your emails remotely by using Office365. Read our Office365 guide online.
The college is now closed to students. This includes the library.
All events at the college are postponed until further notice.
All international travel has been postponed.

Please note that during the spring break, the college is closed from 4pm Friday 3rd April until 10am Tuesday 14th April. Staff will respond to you upon the college reopening from the 14th April.
