West Lothian College played host to the national launch of the college sector’s Statement of Ambition.
Minister for Further Education, Higher Education and Science, Richard Lochhead MSP gave the keynote speech at the event at West Lothian College on Wednesday 5 December.
Senior officials from colleges across Scotland attended the launch including chairs, principals and board members. After the launch the Minister toured the college and met students studying qualifications in areas such as early years and construction.
The Statement of Ambition sets out the vision, values and ambitions for the college sector over the next five years (2018-23).
Colleges Scotland is the collective voice of colleges in Scotland and led on the development of the document, engaging with key partners and stakeholders across the sector.
West Lothian College Principal, Jackie Galbraith said: “I was delighted that the Minister for Further Education launched the Statement of Ambition at West Lothian College, and it was a pleasure to welcome employers, government officials and colleagues from other colleges to Livingston.
“At West Lothian College we are already addressing the ambitions set out in this new publication by developing the skills of people already in jobs or preparing for work or university, and helping local communities to thrive.”
