College achieves Carer Positive award
West Lothian College received a nationally recognised award in August when it became a Carer Positive employer.
Carer Positive is a Scottish Government initiative created with the support of a partnership of private, public and voluntary sector organisations across Scotland.
As a Carer Positive employer, the college has been acknowledged for its continuous support to staff with caring responsibilities.
Suzanne Rankin, HR Business Partner at West Lothian College who led the process of achieving the award with HR Assistant, Amy Lamont, said: “We support staff who have caring responsibilities in a number of ways, for example through our Flexible Working Policy and Maternity and Family Leave Policy. We also offer support through our Employee Assistance Programme and our Health and Wellbeing service.
"We are extremely proud to be holding the Carer Positive award at the Engaged level and are now working towards achieving the Established award.”
College principal, Jackie Galbraith, added: “West Lothian College wants to make work better for all of our employees and I am delighted we have been recognised for how we support staff who have caring responsibilities.
"Achieving the Carer Positive award so soon after being acknowledged as a Disability Confident Leader shows how committed we are to supporting people who work for us.”
