A student and employee of West Lothian College have been shortlisted for separate Bridge 2 Business Educator Awards.

HNC Events student Michael Allan has been shortlisted for Enterprising Student of the Year. Employer engagement officer Elaine Campbell is a finalist In the College Enterprise Educator of the Year.

The Bridge 2 Business awards recognise and reward students, colleges and individuals who are leading the way in enterprise for Scotland.

Michael Allan, who studies HNC Events, said: “It is amazing to be shortlisted for the award. I feel that I am being recognised for the hard work I have put in to complete my course and start my own events business.

“It’s an honour to be nominated for the award and I’d like to thank my lecturer Stephen Frew for nominating me. He’s a great lecturer and was always there for me to bounce my ideas off of while developing my business.”

Colin Miller, Head of Service at West Lothian College said: “Elaine has been a stalwart at West Lothian College for many years and I'm delighted that she has been shortlisted for the award. She always goes that extra mile to help students to become successful in their careers and business startups.”

This year, due to COVID19, the winners will be announced at an online awards event on Tuesday 2 June.
