WLC have worked with EWMG for a period of 18 months and in this time we have worked in a very collaborative way to deliver an array of activities for college students and their lecturers.

This partnership approach has allowed us to have a clear focus on deliverables with the primary objective to develop/mentor and coach young people, creating a future talent pipeline and in turn preparing students to for the world of work. It allows us to help equip learners with certain soft skills such as team working, communication skills and commercial awareness, all of which are sought after by employers,

Part of the programme included a very successful year long work placement programme involving students from the Automotive Engineering discipline within the college. Around 50% of our brands participated in the programme, including Toyota and VW.

This was a great opportunity for the students to experience the world of work and all that comes with this, but more importantly, it allowed our Managers to see talent that is right on their door step and the benefits of working with young people to build their confidence and a more positive and balanced view of what it is really like to work in the automotive sector.

Part of the programme involved on site tours and presentations to staff and students to showcase in-house processes, technologies and learning techniques. Our Recruitment team worked closely with staff to offer support in CV writing and mock interview settings. Additionally, we invited to participate in the college centre curriculum review sessions. This has helped the students develop, underpinning knowledge but more importantly enhanced their learner experience.
