Our Barbering course offers a hands-on, industry-focused learning experience that will equip you with the essential skills to create stylish, on-trend looks for your clients. You’ll master key techniques such as basic cutting, outlining, and detailing hair, as well as shaping facial hair using professional techniques. You’ll also learn how to shampoo and finish gents’ hair to perfection, ensuring every client leaves looking sharp.
Working as part of a team, you’ll have the opportunity to create industry-standard looks while staying up to date with the latest trends. The course features practical assessments, giving you the chance to demonstrate your growing expertise, alongside portfolio development and online VTCT assessments to track your progress.
By the end of the course, you'll have the skills, confidence, and experience to thrive in a fast-paced barbering environment, ready to take on clients and create standout styles. Whether you're aiming for a salon role or planning to work independently, this course will set you up for success in the exciting world of barbering.
You will learn and create current and emerging cuts in a realistic salon environment, preparing you for employment. Guest speakers will tell you about career options, carry out live demos; and additional courses will keep you up to date with trends. Opportunity to showcase your skills entering competitions.
Students who have successfully completed SVQ2 Barbering have progressed to employment in barber shops and also freelance barbers
You will be taught by industry-experienced staff, and train in a commercial Barbers within the college.
If English is not your first language you will need to provide evidence that you have achieved ESOL National 5 (or equivalent)
Education: SVQ Level 3 Barbering
Employment: As a Barber within a barber’s salon or self-employed.
