This course is for those students with additional needs who are ready to become more independent after their time at school or College. The programme has two focal points: personal and social development, and transition into adulthood. 

Days of study: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

  • What the course includes

    This programme provides students with opportunities to discuss their own experiences, perceptions and understanding of relevant topics and issues. 

    Students will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to evaluate, plan and manage their learning and make effective transitions. Subjects including, health and wellbeing, life skills, planning my future and making decisions will support students develop key skills over the year.

    Students will explore the concept of ‘self’ and awareness of their own personal and social development needs.

Why choose this course

A range of opportunities to work with others both in college and with external groups are planned throughout the year. The course will include sessions with other key agencies, including, Skills Development Scotland, employers, external support agencies and college staff from vocational areas. 

 

Entry requirements

All applicants will engage in an informal interview with staff to establish their needs and what opportunities are available to them.

We will invite you for an informal chat so we can tell you about the course and find out what you need. Transition information is essential for all school leavers.

The College works closely with all secondary schools in West Lothian and staff in school will advise you when the transition period has been agreed for your school. If you are a school pupil speak to staff in school about what’s on offer at college.
