The Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) in Learning & Development at SCQF level 9 allows candidates to demonstrate competence in job-related skills in their particular area of work and expertise.

 

These qualifications have been designed in partnership with industry and SQA to ensure relevance to the sector.


Upon successful completion, learners will gain an international recognised qualification which guarantees that they have the skills, knowledge and abilities required to carry out their role successfully.

    Why study this course

    As assessment is normally carried out in the workplace this minimises any time learners would need to be away from their work and allows candidates to generate evidence based on the actual work they are carrying out.

    You will be assigned a highly experienced assessor to work with you on an individual basis. This assessor will support you build a portfolio of evidence demonstrating your knowledge and competence in this sector.

What this course includes

SVQs in learning and development are designed to equip those working in a training and learning and development role with individuals and groups of learners to demonstrate competence in their job role.

Mandatory units cover

  • Planning and preparing learning and development
  • Evaluate and improve learning and development provision
  • Reflecting on own skills and practice

 

The optional units include

  • Identify individual and collective learning and development needs
  • Develop and prepare resources
  • Manging learning and development in groups
  • Engage and support learning and development
  • Provide leadership
  • Develop operational plans
  • Allocate and monitor work

Entry Requirements

  • No prior qualifications are required to undertake this qualification.
  • Candidates must be in a workplace where they are carrying out relevant tasks and responsibilities which allow then to gather the required evidence.

If English is not your first language, ESOL Level 5 is an entry requirement for this course.

    SVQs in Learning and Development could provide progression to higher-level SVQs as your job role develops and changes

    The level 9 award could provide progression to a higher level in management.
