This course provides you with an introduction to a broad range of areas in computing, gaining knowledge and skills in areas such as software design and development, website design and development, cyber security, and networking fundamentals, to prepare you for progression to industry or for further study.

Alongside the skills gained on this course, there is also the opportunity to gain an NPA in cyber security.

On successfully completing this course- it will provide you with the skills and a pathway for more advanced courses such as HNC Computing or HNC Cyber Security.

    The course includes:

    • Software Design and Development
    • Computer application software
    • Website Design and Development
    • Communication, information technology, problem solving and numeracy
    • NPA Data Science
    • NPA Cyber Security

    It also contains a National Progression Award (NPA) unit in cyber security.

    Where it leads

    Following the completion of this course, you can progress into HNC Computing, HNC Cyber Security, and HNC Digital Design and Web Development.

    Employment opportunities include working in an office environment as Data Entry Operative, clerical or Secretarial Support Staff, a Trainee Computer Technician, and/or a Junior Programmer.

Interview arrangements

If we invite you for an interview, plan to be in college for around one hour- there will be an individual interview, and we allocate time slots for this on the day.
