This course is the ideal starting point for a career in the business world, providing students with progression opportunities onto further study and into employment. 

Learning will focus on the development of your business, enterprise, ICT and communication skills whilst providing you with hands on business experience through business simulation.

Experienced lecturers with a wide range of industry experience will support and guide you throughout the course. 

This course will be delivered on campus.

    What the course includes

    The course includes: 

    • Management of marketing and operations 
    • Understanding business 
    • Law
    • Information and communications technology (ICT) 
    • Enterprise activity 
    • Developing skills for employment 
    • UK economy 

    You will get the chance to meet employers and learn about job opportunities, explore your entrepreneurial skills through projects and gain important skills, including ICT skills.

The course prepares you to be able to progress to NC level 6. You will have opportunities to explore your entrepreneurial skills through projects and gain important skills, including ICT skills. You will develop work experience through placements. 

We offer a range of business & management courses from Level 5 up to Level 9, (BA Degree) to prepare you for employment within this industry.

You would have the opportunity to progress through these levels and take advantage of our unique degree offering with Edinburgh Napier University Business School which means you can complete your progression from Level 5 to  full degree at West Lothian College and progress directly to Edinburgh Napier if you want to complete your Honours or Masters degree.

Entry requirements

  • National 4/Standard Grades/Intermediate 1 in communication (or similar) or relevant work experience
  • Commitment to learning, self-motivation and teamwork

If English is not your first language, ESOL Level 5 is an entry requirement for this course.
