INTRODUCTION TO CONSTRUCTION SKILLS LEVEL 4

This construction course is for those thinking about a career in construction- it is an ideal course for school leavers to develop skills such as plumbing, decorative painting, carpentry and joinery.

Mode - Full Time

Days: Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday 
Times: Tuesday 9am - 12pm and Monday & Wednesday 9am - 4pm

Duration: 18 weeks

This course includes classroom and workshop-based activities and supports students on to further study or employment.

    You will develop skills and knowledge in various disciplines within the construction industry, including practical skills in a workshop environment.

Entry requirements

This course is a progression to NPA construction. 

We are looking for enthusiastic, hardworking individuals with an enthusiasm in developing a career in the construction industry.

  • Relevant practical experience (for example practical woodworking or craft skills) 
  • Ideally, communication, numeracy and ICT certification
  • Those without the above qualifications but with relevant life or work experience are encouraged to apply 

If English is not your first language, ESOL Level 5 is an entry requirement for this course

  • Where this course leads

    National Progression Award (NPA) construction or plumbing, or any SCQF level 5 courses in engineering, construction and automotive at West Lothian College.

Interview arrangements

The interview involves a practical skills test and a group interview.

You will need to bring copies of your previous qualifications on the day.
