This course is for S3 to S5 students keen to study the construction trade, and this Level 4 Foundation Apprenticeship is designed for all types of learners, across a range of abilities.

Mode –  Schools Course

Days: Tuesday and Thursday
Times: 1:30pm – 4:30pm
Duration: 1 year

It offers learners a route to working directly with an employer via a project-based learning experience and enables them to develop both technical and meta-skills via a work-based project.

The project is co-designed and agreed by our partner employer and they make a structured and regular contribution to the programme. Learners develop technical and meta-skills based on work situations within the project and an understanding of the construction industry.

  • What the course includes

    The course introduces students to the construction industry and covers:

    • Carpentry and bench joinery
    • Painting and decorating
    • Roof tiling

    There’s the chance to gain SQA credits which will help you move into further study or work.

    Progression to the Preparation for Construction course at West Lothian College, other Level 4/5 programmes, and/or an apprenticeship in the construction industry.

Interview arrangements

We will invite you for an interview which consists of a practical group activity in the workshop and a short interview.
