Rachel Callendar NC Care and Sciences Level 5
Level 5 Care and Sciences student Rachel Callendar is enjoying life at West Lothian College and has a career path in place.
This course is ideal for those who want to learn about careers in the care sector. The course introduces students to values and principles, human development, behaviour and social influences.
Rachel who lives in Blackburn has found that the style of teaching at the college really suits her.
“We get treated like adults at college and I really like that. We get to make our own decisions and while the help is there, it is nice to feel trusted enough to go and make decisions on our own. It makes me feel more engaged as a student.”
Looking to the future Rachel has her sights set on a very rewarding career.
“I hope to be a paramedic so I know I have a lot of studying to do but that’s OK because I really enjoy all the theory! In the short term I want to progress onto the level 6 course. There are a few ways I can achieve my goal. I could go to university or become an apprentice technician within the ambulance service. At the moment I plan on going to university but it is good to know that there are other options available.”
