Joe Vaslot Project Search

Project Search is an employability initiative focused on empowering young people who have additional needs gain employment

West Lothian College has been working in conjunction with West Lothian Council on this hugely successful and innovative business led programme designed to prepare participating students for competitive, integrated
employment.
Project Search staff support interns with their placement and help them settle in. The interns are introduced to team members and a work buddy. When it is felt the intern is comfortable with their environment and buddy, the staff
member will remove themselves from the situation so that the intern settles in like any other new start in employment (with a buddy to call on if needed) Buddies are provided with specific training for the role.

Joe Vaslot was just one of the students who benefited from Project Search.
“Project search has helped me with my confidence and I think it has got me ready to work on my own. I have really enjoyed Project Search.”
Joe is a shining example of how Project Search can help young people into employment. Having completed his work placement at Toys R Us, he was offered a full-time position within an online shopping team where he now has the highest pick rates in his team.
