Claire Bearman, Healthcare Skills Boost

After a long career in hospitality a chance encounter through Facebook led Claire Bearman to finally make the move into the care industry. Claire told us a little bit about her college journey and why she loves the college approach.

“I have always had an interest in the possibility of starting a career in the care industry, up until now I have always worked in the catering and hospitality sector which I love and feel very comfortable in. Recent events made me realise life is very short and being 43 I need to take every opportunity when it arises.

“I found this course completely by accident when someone posted on Facebook asking if anyone knew where anywhere local is looking for staff, one of my friends then commented about this course, I was intrigued and clicked on the link, I took it as a sign that now was the right time to give a new career a go and at least apply and keep my fingers crossed. The whole application process was very straight forward and I was kept well informed about next stages ect.”

To anyone considering a similar move to Claire she had this message:

“I would highly recommend this course to anyone considering furthering their career or like myself starting from scratch, all the lecturers were very friendly and approachable as well as being very knowledgeable too. There is a lot of information to take in but it is laid out very well so it just felt very informative, not overwhelming.

“The fact it is a very short intense course means you don’t have time to be distracted and can fully concentrate on each class, the best bonus of this course though is the fact you are guaranteed a job at the end of it, and with the NHS as well.

“Good luck to anyone considering this course, you won’t regret it!”
