Support for Learning

The Support for Learning Team

Our support for learning team are available to help you with any additional support you may need for your studies whilst at college.

We work with learners across the college in all centres, providing help with all issues which relate to learning. Learners can access one-to-one support, help in small groups and also help in class if appropriate.

We can help you if you have a specific learning difficulty like dyslexia or autism, a medical difficulty, sensory impairment or any other support need. We will arrange to meet you and carry out a needs assessment and create a personal learning and support plan. This plan is designed to identify the support you need and detail what we will do to help you.

If you have a support need you may be entitled to alternative assessment arrangements such as extra time, the provision of a reader/ scribe or the use of a computer. If you want to discuss your study needs then call in to the Student Learning Centre and we can discuss how we can help you. Equipment and assistive materials can be provided for students with Specific Learning Difficulties (SLD), e.g. Dyslexia. If you think you may have Dyslexia a diagnostic screening can be arranged for you.

Workshops are organised to help with the following:

  • study skills

  • essay and report writing

  • computing skills

  • maths / numeracy

  • communications

If you would like to discuss any of the above issues, or would like to discuss any other aspect of support, ask at Spectrum in the Street Building, or phone Lorna on 01506 427610 or a member of the Support for Learning Team on 01506 427604.
