West Lothian College staff were big winners at the annual College Development Network Awards.
The awards celebrate the talent and skills of staff and students across Scotland’s Colleges, and truly showcase a sector that can innovate and succeed in the toughest of circumstances. This year they were presented in a virtual ceremony MC’d by actress Elaine C. Smith.
Staff were nominated in two categories with both Lecturer Marion Darling and Employment Engagement Officer Elaine Campbell up for the College Colleague of the Year Award and the marketing team nominated for the Marketing and Communications Award.
Marion was highly commended and Elaine commended for their outstanding work across the college over the past year whilst the marketing team took home first prize for their work on the college’s first ever Virtual Open Day held earlier this year.
Simon Earp, Vice Principal for Performance and Improvement, said: “Well what can I say? With two commendations and an overall win we are all really proud of our staff and their achievements tonight. It’s been a superb outcome for us and it’s great to have our staff recognised for the hard work they put in every day.”
Marketing and Communications Lead at the college, Scott Coutts, who accepted the award on behalf of the marketing team at the virtual ceremony, added: “I’m delighted that the college has been recognised at the College Development Network Awards. The college has been excellent in adapting to the Covid-19 pandemic, ensuring that we continue to support our students and applicants to achieve their potential.
"Being shortlisted for 3 awards on the evening is a great success and showcases the hard work, commitment and innovation of everyone at the college. Last night really did showcase why we #LoveScotlandsColleges”
