West Lothian College hosts Australian futsal team

West Lothian College recently played host to the Australian under 14’s national boys and girl’s futsal sides on the Scottish leg of their UK tour.
While in Scotland the teams were based in Livingston and used the college as a training base for both on court training and match analysis.
After their first training session the students were given lunch followed by a full tour of the college sports facilities which everyone found extremely impressive. The teams would then undertake their match analysis.
The teams also had the opportunity to meet and speak with the college women’s futsal team ahead of their upcoming national final. Afterwards sport and fitness lecturer Martin McCann held a Q and A with the team about sporting life in Scotland and the opportunities West Lothian College can offer.
The day was rounded off with the presentation of an Australian Futsal Association pendant which will take pride of place in the sports department.
With the under 16 teams scheduled to visit Scotland in October this year, this partnership looks set to grow.
Sport and Fitness lecturer Martin McCann said “It’s been fantastic having the teams use West Lothian College as their training base while they have been in Scotland. I hope they found their stay to be fun and informative and we look forward to welcoming the under 16’s in October.”
