West Lothian College took home the Best Security Awareness Campaign award at this year’s Scottish Cyber Awards on 27 March for its CyberDrive initiative.

The project launched in 2023 and has trained more than 1,500 people in schools and communities across West Lothian on cyber security and cyber resilience.

Using a distinctive CyberVan, college staff transported high-tech equipment into communities to deliver pop-up workshops to boost cyber skills and help people gain employment.

Learning and skills manager, Margaret Stafford, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have won the Best Security Awareness Campaign Award at the Scottish Cyber Awards. We are passionate about building a culture of cyber awareness and resilience and this award reinforces our commitment to preparing people to thrive in the digital world."

Competing against top businesses like CyberSafe Scotland, M&G plc, Strathclyde Forensics Ltd, Virgin Money and ACCA, this win highlights the dedication and commitment of the college staff and students involved in delivering CyberDrive.

Principal of the college, Jackie Galbraith, added: “This is amazing recognition of the outstanding work of the West Lothian College lecturers and support staff who have helped so many local people learn how to stay safe in the online world.”
