SVQ Team Leading SCQF level 6

The Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) Team Leading SCQF level 6 allows candidates to demonstrate competence in job-related skills in their particular area of work and expertise.


These qualifications have been designed in partnership with industry and SQA to ensure relevance to the sector.
Upon successful completion, learners will gain an international recognised qualification which guarantees that they have the skills, knowledge and abilities required to carry out their role successfully.

  • What the course includes

    SVQs in Team Leading are designed to equip those working in first managerial role to demonstrate competence in their job role.

    This course covers areas such as;

    • Managing yourself
    • Developing productive working relationships with colleagues
    • Allocating work to team members
    • Providing a healthy, safe, secure and productive working environment and practices

Why choose this course

This qualification is jointly awarded with the Chartered Institute of Management (CMI). Candidates who are registered for the SVQ  in Team Leading at SCQF level 6 (GM28 22) are able to take advantage of 12 months free studying membership of CMI.

As assessment is normally carried out in the workplace this minimises any time learners would need to be away from their work and allows candidates to generate evidence based on the actual work they are carrying out.

You will be assigned a highly experienced assessor to work with you on an individual basis. This assessor will support you build a portfolio of evidence demonstrating your knowledge and competence in this sector.

    Where it leads

    This SVQ in Team Leading at SCQF level 6 could provide progression to:

    • an HNC/Diploma in Management and Leadership or a related area
    • a range of PDAs in Management from SCQF level 6 and above
    • an SVQ in Management at SCQF level 7
    • employment across many sectors, perhaps in a junior management role
