    What the course includes

    This course will give you broad understanding of engineering.
    You’ll take part in a lot of hands-on training which will develop your practical skills and build your knowledge of the engineering industry.

Why choose this course?

As assessment is normally carried out in the workplace. This minimises any time learners would need to be away from their work and allows candidates to generate evidence based on the actual work they are carrying out.

You will be assigned a highly experienced assessor to work with you on an individual basis. This assessor will support you build a portfolio of evidence demonstrating your knowledge and competence in this sector.

Entry Requirements

  • No prior qualifications are required to undertake this qualification, although a minimum of six months experience in this sector is required.
  • Candidates must be in a workplace where they are carrying out relevant tasks and responsibilities which allow then to gather the required evidence.

If English is not your first language, ESOL Level 5 is an entry requirement for this course.

    SVQ’s in Engineering could provide progression to a degree programme with a Higher Education institution.

Fees, Finance and Funding

ITA update:

Individual Training Account funding has now been closed to new Applicants as of 7th December 2018. Applicants should be able to apply again from April 2019, subject to Skills Development Scotland making new funds available. What options do I have for paying my course fees?

West Lothian College accept payment in full for all part time courses by Cash, Card, Bank Transfer or Cheque.

 

In response to the unforeseen withdrawal of ITA funding, West Lothian College have put in place an option for students to pay their course fees by instalments. This can be discussed with our Student Advice team at the time of your enrolment, and they will explain all the options and terms and conditions to you.
