This course is for S3, S4 and S5 pupils and above and is an ideal starting point for those still at school but considering a career in the motor vehicle industry. You will gain practical skills and knowledge and the chance to progress on to a full-time automotive engineering programme.

    What the course includes

    The course covers general workplace skills such as team building, problem solving, health and safety and workspace management as well as skills and knowledge needed for a minimum qualification in the motor vehicle industry. Subjects include:

    • Engine lubrication and cooling
    • Fuel and exhaust systems
    • General mechanics
    • Electrical systems
    • Braking systems
    • Steering and suspension
    • Wheels and tyres

We will invite you for an interview which consists of a practical group activity in the workshop and a short interview.
