PATHWAY APPRENTICESHIP IN SOCIAL SERVICES: CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE

Are you interested in a career in working with children and young people? If you are interested in supporting children and young people learn and develop in an education or care setting then this is the course for you. We will help you to develop the key skills you need to progress into your chosen career through theory and practical activities.

This course will help you to progress your career and gain employment working with children and young people. This is such an exciting career, every day is different and you have the opportunity to really make a difference to children and young people. We work closely with local employers who will also be able to tell you about the different jobs that are available when working with children and young people.

An attendance allowance of at least £100 per week is payable to all Pathway Apprentices. It is possible to combine this course with a Kickstart Placement and those also taking part in the UK Government Kickstart Scheme will instead receive a higher rate of the National Minimum Wage for the work based element of the programme.

Entry requirements

Three National 5 qualifications, one must be English.

If English is not your first language, ESOL Level 5 is an entry requirement for this course.

  • Where it leads

    The course will help you move towards a Modern Apprenticeship (fast-track); SVQ 3 as a practitioner or similar; progression to an HNC in childhood practice/healthcare; progression to degree-level study within childcare or social services, such as primary education.
