This is an exciting one-year course for anyone wanting to begin a career in barbering.  It is suitable for beginners, looking to build and develop skills within the barbering industry working in our new modern realistic salon environment ‘The rookie Barber’. You’ll gain the skills and knowledge to progress on to SVQ3 Barbering or into employment in the barbering trade. 

  • SVQ LEVEL 2 BARBERING (VTCT)

    What the course includes

    You will learn basic barbering skills and techniques in a realistic working environment creating looks.  The course includes basic cutting techniques, creating basic outlines and detailing in the hair, creating facial hair shape using basic techniques. Shampooing and finishing gent’s hair.

    You will be working as part of a team, creating industry looks using the skills you have learnt keeping up with trends.  There will be practical assessments under observation, portfolio evidence and online VTCT assessments.

You will be taught by industry-experienced staff, and train in a commercial Barbers within the college.

Entry Requirements

  • You must be 16 years or over before the 29th of August 2024
  • Have an interest in the barbering is essential
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with the general public
  • Highly motivated

 

If English is not your first language you will need to provide evidence that you have achieved ESOL National 5 (or equivalent)

    Education: SVQ Level 3 Barbering

    Employment: As a Barber within a barber’s salon or self-employed.
