The main purpose of the course is to provide students with the opportunity to develop the skills of listening, talking, reading and writing in order to understand and use language. This course will require an extra evening for more than one week during the year.

Language is at the heart of the Higher English course. Higher English is representative of a set of highly valued, and highly valuable, language skills giving candidates the opportunity to contribute to and to flourish within a communications-driven society.
This course is for those who wish to develop their language and communication skills through the exploration and creation of detailed and complex language, literature and media texts. It provides students with opportunities to develop aspects of learning which are transferable across many disciplines.
If English is not your first language, ESOL Level 5 is an entry requirement for this course.
