The business course helps you develop the necessary knowledge and skills required for working in the modern business world and for progression onto HNC and degree level study. 

Content covered includes core business subjects, accounts, human resource management, marketing, economics, research skills, communication and ICT. Development of employability skills is central to this course, with the opportunity to engage with local employers. 

Experienced lecturers with a wide range of industry experience will support and guide you throughout the course.

The course prepares you to progress to Higher National courses, and you will gain skills which employers are looking for in information technology, communication, numeracy, problem solving, working with others, enterprise and employability. You will develop work experience through placements. 

We offer a range of business & management courses from Level 5 up to Level 9, (BA Degree) to prepare you for employment within this industry.

You would have the opportunity to progress through these levels and take advantage of our unique degree offering with Edinburgh Napier University Business School which means you can complete your progression from Level 6 to full degree at West Lothian College and progress directly to Edinburgh Napier if you want to complete your Honours or Masters degree.

  • National 5 business management or relevant NQ/NC units or
  • National 5 in English or communication or
  • National 5 information technology or relevant NQ/NC units
  • Commitment to learning

If English is not your first language, ESOL Level 5 is an entry requirement for this course.
