This course follows on from NC level 5 hairdressing. It helps students move into work within the hairdressing industry or on to SVQ (level 3) hairdressing.

    • Colour correction
    • Complex haircutting techniques
    • Putting together complete looks

The course will prepare you for employment/self-employment in hairdressing. You’ll gain work experience in our Platinum Salon; guest speakers will tell you about career options; and you will keep up to date with current trends.

Entry requirements

  • NC level 5 hairdressing including communications at level 5, or equivalent

If English is not your first language, ESOL Level 5 is an entry requirement for this course.

  • Where it leads

    Education: SVQ level 3 hairdressing.

    Employment: qualified hairdresser working in a salon as a stylist or freelance hairdresser.

Interview arrangements

We will invite you for an interview which involves:

  • Welcome and course information
  • Written task
  • Individual interview
  • Practical skills test: you must bring a suitable model for a cut and blow dry, to be completed in within a commercially-viable timeframe (90 Minutes). The cut should be either a uniform cut, graduated cut or increased layer removing minimum of 1 inch
