INTRODUCTION TO CONSTRUCTION SKILLS (JAN)

This course is suited to those thinking about a career in carpentry & joinery. It is an ideal course for school leavers to develop skills such as health and safety & manufacturing carpentry and joinery products. It includes classroom and workshop-based activities and supports students on to further study or employment.

    What this course includes

    You will develop skills and knowledge in the carpentry & Joinery discipline, including practical skills in a workshop environment such as fitting lock and latches and project work.

Entry requirements

  • National 3 mathematics, English and a technical/science subject
  • Interest in construction and willingness to learn

If English is not your first language, ESOL Level 5 is an entry requirement for this course.

    Education: National Progression Award (NPA) construction or any SCQF level 5 courses in engineering, construction and automotive at West Lothian College.

The interview involves a practical skills test and a group interview. You will need to bring copies of your previous qualifications on the day. This is likely be to a phone or online interview.
