    This qualification covers areas such as;

    • General workplace health, safety and welfare
    • Productive work practices
    • Moving, handling or storing resources
    • Insulation and Building Treatments (IBT) building construction, defects and interfaces

Why choose this course?

To ensure relevance to the sector, this qualification has been designed in partnership and is jointly awarded with CITB the sector skills council.

As assessment is normally carried out in the workplace this minimises any time learners would need to be away from their work and allows candidates to generate evidence based on the actual work they are carrying out.

You will be assigned a highly experienced assessor to work with you on an individual basis. This assessor will support you build a portfolio of evidence demonstrating your knowledge and competence in this sector.

Entry requirements

  • Candidates must be in a work place where they are carrying out relevant tasks and responsibilities which allow then to gather the required evidence.
  • No prior qualifications are required to undertake this qualification, although a minimum of six months experience in this sector is required.

If English is not your first language, ESOL Level 5 is an entry requirement for this course.

  • Where it will lead?

    This level 5 award could provide progression to:

    • An SVQ in Occupational Work Supervision at SCQF level 6
    • Degree-level study at a higher education institution
    • Employment in the construction sector, perhaps as an external wall insulation installer or loft insulation Installer.
