HND MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

This course is for those wanting an engineering technician-level qualification or advanced entry into a university degree programme. It covers all aspects of mechanical engineering as well as quality management and business awareness.

  • HNC in mechanical engineering

We also encourage candidates with relevant experience to apply.

If English is not your first language, ESOL Level 5 is an entry requirement for this course.

  • Where it leads

    Education: progression to third year of the BEng mechanical engineering at Napier University is achievable with suitable passes in the graded units. Students have previously progressed onto further study at Heriot-Watt and Strathclyde University (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering)

    Employment: engineering at technician level. 

Interview arrangements

Current West Lothian students will be required to successfully complete their course. 

If we invite you for interview, plan to be in college for an hour. Bring evidence of any qualifications stated on your application form. 

For all applicants, the interview will involve: 

  • Interview with two members of the engineering team (10 minutes). We will ask you about your interests and why you want to study engineering 
  • An overview of the course and time for you to ask any further questions.
