You will build on your first year skills and knowledge learning how to think like a hacker, and gain a deeper understanding of security issues and concerns.
The course continues to introduce characteristics of cybercrime, security principles, technologies, and procedures to defend networks. You will further understand how to develop security policies that comply with cyber security laws.

When studying this course you will learn the basics of cyber security, from hacking to data recovery. Cyber security is becoming the front runner skill set for any business in any sector regardless of size.
HNC Cyber Security.
If English is not your first language, ESOL Level 5 is an entry requirement for this course.
Education: West Lothian College has an agreement with Edinburgh Napier University that if successful in this course you can progress to their 3rd year BSC (Hons) Cyber Security and Forensics.
Employment: after successful completion of this course you can apply for a range of jobs within computing and ICT. Including cyber security for a large organisation, freelance cyber security and working for a smaller specialist cyber security organisation.
If we invite you for an interview, plan to be in college for around three hours.
