HNC EVENTS

This course will help you develop a wide range of skills and prepare you for work in the exciting and vibrant events industry. You will cover a broad range of subjects relating to event management, designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills required to organise and manage a number of events at different levels.

Scotland has a huge amount to offer in terms of events on both a local and international scale, consequently there are many employment opportunities in this area, for example, Edinburgh International Festival and Edinburgh Christmas.

    • Event planning and organisation
    • Events legislation
    • Event budgeting
    • Finance
    • Event management
    • Communication skills

You will help organising a number of events varying in scale, have the opportunity to undertake Internships with SCVO and at The Gathering.

You will also have the opportunity to become associate students in conjunction with Queen Margaret University.

Entry requirements

  • One relevant Higher (eg English, history, modern studies) or appropriate range of SQA units at Level 6

    Education: possible progression to an HND course with another college. Possible progression to 2nd year of a degree course.

    Employment: this course will prepare you for employment within the vibrant events industry in roles such as events co-ordinator, wedding planner or events manager.

Interview arrangements

If you are invited for an interview for this course, the instructions are below:

Please plan to be in college for around three hours. You will receive a short group presentation by the lecturer on the day of the interview. You will also complete a written task and an IT task before you receive an interview from the key lecturer and another course tutor.
