    This course includes learning about values and principles required to deliver effective care, roles and responsibilities that form part of the workforce you will enter, personal development including resilience, communication, confidentility and practical skills.

Entry requirements

Four National 4 qualifications, or Intermediate 1, one of which must be English, or equivalent.

We may consider applications from people who do not have these qualifications but can demonstrate the appropriate skills, qualities and experience to be a success on the course and the role(s).

Applicants must undertake a PVG check

If English is not your first language, ESOL Level 5 is an entry requirement for this course.

  • Where it leads

    The course may lead into an appropriate Level 6 programme within West Lothian College in Health and Social Care or into careers within social services, health or community work.

Interview arrangements

Please expect to be in college for around two hours and bring evidence of any qualifications. The interview will include some practical activity in line with what you will experience whilst on the course as well as some group and individual discussions.
