This course is suited to those thinking about a career in built environment with a focus on renewables and green skills. It is an ideal course for school leavers to develop skills such and knowledge in the green skills areas with the main part of the course being in the electrical disciplines looking at who electrification can help achieve net zero targets.   • What the course includes

    This 17-week introductory course on renewable energy technologies is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of various renewable energy sources and their applications. The course covers fundamental electrical principles, electrical systems, battery storage, solar thermal, air source heat pumps, solar PV (photovoltaics), smart controls, and emphasizes the importance of health and safety in the renewable energy industry.

If English is not your first language, ESOL Level 5 is an entry requirement for this course.

  • Where will it lead?

    National Progression Award (NPA) construction SCETT Pre Apprenticeship or any SCQF level 5 courses in engineering, construction and automotive at West Lothian College.

What are the interview arrangements?

The interview involves a practical skills test and a group interview. You will need to bring copies of your previous qualifications on the day. This is likely be to a phone or online interview.
