CAFE SERVICES

Funky Friday at the Terrace Restaurant Café is an exciting and popular lunchtime service. 

It’s just one of the many great activities you will do in this course for students with additional support needs. Not only do you get to develop your skills in a hospitality setting, but you will also learn about sustainability, health and everyday life skills.

Days: Thursday and Friday 
Times: Thursday 9am – 4pm and Friday 10:30am – 1.30pm  
Duration: 35 weeks

  • INTRODUCTION TO PROFESSIONAL COOKERY LEVEL 4

    What the course includes

    In one of your lessons, you will be in the classroom to study subjects that support your practical activities in the kitchen. You will learn how important it is to keep safe in the kitchen, plan recipes and all about running the café, from discussing sustainability and food costs to health topics. 

    You will also celebrate special events and get your customers involved in the topics you have been exploring. For example, you might host an afternoon tea with special treats, or a valentine celebration. This course is about learning in a fun and practical way!

This may provide the stepping stone necessary to help you to move forward into a volunteering role or into a job. Funky Friday café is popular with both students and staff with both sit-in and takeaway options. 

Entry requirements

  • This course is open to all students with additional support needs 
  • If you have taken this course before, you will be placed on a waiting list 

If English is not your first language, ESOL Level 5 is an entry requirement for this course.
