This course has an increased focus on the use of digital and social media techniques in marketing communications and is designed to provide you with the skills and competencies which will allow you to pursue a range of opportunities in employment, professional development and further study. 

You will be connected with partners and industry professionals to ensure that you are prepared to work in marketing, advertising and public relations. On completion of the course, you will have a strong portfolio of examples to use for progression to further study and share with employers.

  • What the course includes

    You will cover core marketing, advertising and digital subjects and will complete a project-based graded unit project. Units include; Marketing: An Introduction, Marketing Research Theory, Digital Marketing Communications: Website Development, Digital Marketing Communications: Content Development, Digital Imaging, Advertising: The Advertising Industry, Public relations: Principles & Practice, Media Analysis: Advertisements.

    We will meet speakers from industry and you will work with employers using live briefs where you have the opportunity to present to industry experts and decision makers. The course will get you digitally ready to market opportunities for yourself and others.

We have an articulation agreement in place with Queen Margaret University allowing you to progress into BA(Hons) PR & Marketing Communications (Year 1).

Entry requirements

  • Minimum of one Higher at grade C is beneficial but not essential
  • Those with relevant work experience are encouraged to apply
  • Other relevant qualifications will be considered
  • Commitment to learning is essential
  • Confidence in use of MS Excel

If English is not your first language, ESOL Level 5 is an entry requirement for this course.

    Entry to first year of BA(Hons) PR & Marketing Communications at Queen Margaret University.

    On achievement of this course, you may be able to progress into HND Marketing, HND Advertising and PR at another college.

    You may gain employment at a junior level in: Marketing, Sales Administration, Market Research, Public Relations and Events Management.
